This program shall work to ensure that victims are afforded the right to choose, to the extent possible, their level of participation within the criminal justice system. Within the community, program staff shall advocate on behalf of victims and witnesses, promoting those policies and practices, which promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. The Office of Victims' Services is proud to unveil the new victims of crime website. Over the years we have consistently heard from victims... "What services are available to me? Who will help me? What happens to the offender? Are my feelings normal? Do I have any rights? Is there one place that I can go to for answers?"
This website was created for victims to address these concerns. Many of the sections were written with input from or by victims, such as "How the Crime Might Affect You." The website covers a variety of topics such as, victims' rights, available services, a flowchart outlining the criminal and juvenile justice system and much more.
The website address, www.pacrimevictims.org<http://www.pacrimevictims.org> will be incorporated in the Law Enforcement brochure, within the DAVE System, on VineLink (PA SAVIN), and all of the OVS brochures, posters, forms and publications. OVS would appreciate it if you could include the new website as a link on your website and in any reference material that you distribute.
Our goal is to make the juvenile and criminal justice process as easy as possible through information, communication, and orientation.
